Proposed MSc Thesis Topics.pdf
Each student is required to complete their Master’s Thesis during the third (winter) semester. The thesis topic is proposed at the beginning of the third semester by the Master’s student, then refined and finalized by the Thesis Supervisor, and subsequently submitted to the Coordinating Committee (CC) for approval.
The Coordinating Committee (CC) approves the Thesis Supervisor and establishes the Three-Member Examination Committee, which includes the Supervisor as one of its members. The composition of the committee is ratified by the Departmental Assembly.
In exceptional cases, if there is an objective inability or a significant reason (e.g., illness, absence abroad, etc.), the Thesis Supervisor or a Committee member may be replaced following a decision by the Director of the MSc program and with the approval of the CC.
The procedure for thesis submission and evaluation is as follows:
-
The Master’s Thesis must be submitted to the Thesis Supervisor by January 31 of the third semester for possible corrections.
-
After the final approval, the thesis defense takes place publicly, before the Three-Member Examination Committee.
-
Upon completion of the defense, the Committee evaluates and grades the thesis.
If the Committee considers the thesis unsatisfactory and grades it below 5.00, it may request improvements, modifications to specific sections, or a complete revision.
-
In case of major revisions, the Committee sets a specific timeframe for the resubmission of the revised thesis, ensuring that all recommended corrections have been implemented.
Once approved, the thesis is published in the Institutional Repository of the University of Thessaly: http://ir.lib.uth.gr.
The Thesis Writing Guide is uploaded to the MSc program’s website at the beginning of the academic year and contains detailed guidelines on the thesis structure and writing requirements, as determined by the Program Director.
To successfully complete the MSc program and obtain the Master’s Degree, the student must:
-
Pass ten (10) courses.
-
Successfully complete and defend the Master’s Thesis.
The final grade of the Master’s Degree is determined as follows:
-
8.50 and above → "Excellent" (Άριστα)
-
6.50 – 8.49 → "Very Good" (Λίαν Καλώς)
-
5.00 – 6.49 → "Good" (Καλώς)
