Erasmus+ mobility

General Information
All mobility activities carried out within the framework of the Erasmus+ program, whether for Studies or Internships, are coordinated by:
-
The Erasmus Office of the University of Thessaly:
http://erasmus.uth.gr/gr/kinitikotita/kininikotita-info-gr -
The Academic Coordinator assigned at the Department level:
https://www.med.uth.gr/DetailsStat.aspx?StatID=114&lg=GR
Postgraduate students are informed about their opportunity to participate in Erasmus+ mobility through the Program Director during the Orientation Day, their academic advisor, and the official Erasmus+ website of the University of Thessaly.
Erasmus+ Studies
All registered active students of the University of Thessaly, at all levels of study (undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral), can become Erasmus+ students and complete part of their study program at a Partner University, in accordance with the existing Erasmus+ University Charter and the University's agreement with the National Coordination Unit (I.K.Y.), which manages the allocation of student mobility scholarships.
More specifically, any student of the University of Thessaly can participate in the Erasmus+ Program provided that:
-
They have completed at least the first year of their university studies.
-
They have not yet completed the minimum required number of ECTS credits for graduation, meaning there must still be a period of studies remaining at the time of application, during which they can replace courses by studying at a university participating in the ERASMUS+ program.
-
They are enrolled in an official study program at the University of Thessaly that leads to a degree or other academic qualification, including a master's or doctoral degree, and is recognized according to the procedures of the participating country.
-
They have sufficient knowledge of the language used at the host university in which the courses they intend to attend are taught. Sufficient knowledge is considered to be the language level required by the respective host institution. To approve the student's mobility, they must submit their language proficiency certificate along with their application to the International Relations Office.
Selection criteria are announced in advance on the websites of the Academic Departments and are related to the specific requirements of each study program. If candidates meet all the requirements set by their respective departments, priority is given to those who:
-
Have special needs.
-
Have a strong overall academic record (factors such as attendance, absence of disciplinary violations, consistency in studies, and avoidance of "eternal" student status are taken into account).
-
Have better knowledge of the working language at the Host University.
-
Have certified language proficiency in more than one language.
-
Have completed most of their compulsory courses.
-
Are in higher years of study.
-
Have a higher overall grade point average.
Erasmus+ Internship
The ERASMUS+ PLACEMENT program supports student mobility (undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral candidates) for the purpose of completing an internship at businesses, organizations, universities, and research centers in European countries participating in the program.
The objectives of student mobility abroad for an internship under Erasmus+ are:
-
Acquiring professional experience and developing professional skills.
-
Facilitating and improving graduates’ integration into the workforce.
-
Applying knowledge in a professional setting.
-
Understanding the economic and cultural conditions of other European countries.
-
Exchanging information between the University and businesses for a more effective connection between theory and practice.
Internship Scope
The internship abroad must be related to the student’s field of study at the University of Thessaly.
The internship should not be part of a thesis or dissertation. The program is designed to develop students' professional skills, not to support their current research activities. Therefore, a student may work at a research institution only under the condition that the internship’s subject is determined by the specific needs and activities of the Host Institution and is not shaped to serve part of a thesis or dissertation. However, the knowledge and skills gained, such as learning a new technique, may be utilized by the intern for their personal research activities.
Role of the Hosting Organization/Company
The host organization/company is responsible for:
-
Providing the necessary conditions for the intern to complete their internship.
-
Assigning a supervisor within the company to oversee the student's work.
-
Providing all essential information required to fulfill the internship’s objectives, as well as the necessary technical infrastructure.
Role of the Student
The student must:
-
Review the website of the International Educational Programs Office for information about the process, deadlines, and selection results.
-
Take responsibility for finding the host organization, arranging the internship period, and handling travel and accommodation details (visa processing, insurance coverage, residence permits, travel guidelines).
-
Meet the requirements set by the host institution and try to fulfill the assigned tasks under the supervision of a faculty member.
-
Submit a detailed report upon completion of the internship, outlining the assigned tasks and deliverables.
